Inspiring Typography Examples

Inspiring Typography examples are everywhere, if you know where to look. Typography isn’t just about printing type on paper. You can create illustrated type, dimensional type, and even architectural typography. It’s time again to showcase some awesome typography examples to inspire you. Let’s take a look at some inspiring typography examples below.

noodle type

I love the type created with noodles. I could see this used as a promotion for a restaurant, or even a soup or spaghetti ad. It’s wonderfully illustrated, complete with shadows and gloss. There’s something that has a classic appeal with this design.

book type

It’s amazing how you can represent type with almost anything. You can easily read each letter, which is formed with standing books.

chicago fingerprint

This typographic treatment is crafted so well, that it blends into its surroundings. If you’re not paying attention, it’s easy to miss. believe me, it’s tougher to replicate imperfections realistically than it is to create crisp lines.

dimensional paper type

Created with layers of paper, this inspiring typography example stands out in multiple ways. Not only is it dimensional, it is also filled with shadows and depth that makes you stop and take the time to take it all in.

fanned paper

Almost like a folded paper design, this dimensional piece is hard to ignore. It practically comes out at you. Devoid of color, the design still has a great deal of impact with shapes and shadows.

icing type

Illustrative type is always fun. The type is formed with cake icing (computer generated), which only reinforces the message that much more. Any time you can illustrate the same message you’re delivering with words, the easier it is to drive the message home.

spring type

The spring typography has a mechanical and industrial feel. The metallic material of the spring is a great material for natural light and shadow.

type map

Anyone could throw a map on a wall, but I like the approach here. This is great for 2 reasons. The 1st is that it has a lot of impact and is a different approach. The 2nd is that it helps people who don’t know geography well, and they can pick up on the names of the countries.

architecture type - Inspiring Typography Examples

You can tell a lot of work went into this example. Buildings are created using typographic forms, which only makes them stand out that much more. The level of detail in these pices are stunning.

type cutout - Inspiring Typography Examples

Believe it or not, this is made from cut paper. This is an extreme amount of detail for any illustration or design. Imagine all of the shapes and contours that had to be formed with x-acto knives.

Conclusion

Whenever you need a little inspiration, it’s great to look at other typography works. There are tons of inspiring typography examples on the web, if you know where to look.
