League Spartan Free Font
If you’re a typography like me, then you’re always on the lookout for new typefaces. New fonts and type families are being made on a daily basis. However, when a company that you trust comes out with a new typeface, you want to be the first one to check it out. The League of Movable Type announced today the launch of a new typeface called League Spartan. You can preview League Spartan in the screenshot below.
The League of Movable Type stated that this is the first weight of an entire type family that they plan on building. League Spartan is a bold, geometric sans serif typeface. League Spartan has over 300 glyphs, which means that they put an extensive amount of work into this typeface. The great thing about this typeface is that you can download it completely free. What a great way to spread the word about a great new typeface!
Another thing to note about this typeface, is that they have created an interesting project. They are offering an animated version of this typeface, which is unique. This is the first time I’ve heard of any typographers creating a typeface for the use of animated projects. If you have a kinetic typography project, League Spartan’s animated version might be a good choice. I suggest that you go to their page and check out the project. The animated version took a lot of work, so I can see why they are offering it for free. Just the fact that it’s built for animations makes it worth it. This is a feature you don’t hear much of right now. I have the feeling that we’ll see other typographers offering this capability in the future.
