In Need of Typography Inspiration?
I decided to start a new series this week, showcasing beautiful typography, type treatments, and hand lettering. I can’t get enough of stuff like this, and I’m willing to bet you can’t either. I find it truly amazing how good some people are at drawing type by hand. It took me a while to get decent with a computer. I can’t imagine creating anything this good by hand. I’ve taken courses, but it just doesn’t seem to be my cup of tea. With that being said, I still admire beautiful type, especially hand-drawn type, because I realize the skill and craftsmanship that goes into it. If you need a little typography inspiration, check out the examples shown below.

I love the vintage C. It reminds me of old school Broadway signage. The lighting, like the bulbs and the neon help perpetuate this idea.

What did you think about this week’s collection of typography inspiration? Which one of these are your favorite? I like them all for different reasons. It’s amazing how many designers are creating beautiful type projects daily. I would love to see what you’re working on. If you have a typographic design you’d like to share, email it to editor@designcrawl.com. I’ll feature it in this new weekly post. I really think this is a great idea, because it waill spread the word about your work, and it will inspire others at the same time.
I’m digging the looks. Seen a lot of vintage, urban, and retro combined. Great ideas. Yet another great post – George
Thank you! I am glad you like it. I’ll definitely be doing this post again
Awesome looking forward to it
I love these. Thanks for the inspiration. The Nike Leather design is amazing.
The ABA Journal Blawg By Dado Queiroz is my favorite.
Thank you for posting this, James.
Some very nice work and inspiration for future projects. My opinion: If we don’t have clients that allow us the opportunity to use our typography skills to this end, do it for a personal project or promotional materials. Your friends and clients will really appreciate the extra attention. Have Fun, Make Art.
